JLL: Where were you born and Where did you grow up?

Angelica: I was born and raised in Staten Island, New York and have spent all of my 25 years of life on this Island!

JLL How Old were you when you started singing?

Angelica: I first started singing when I was about 7 years old. I would sit on my porch with my older sister belting out Lauryn Hill. My mom noticed that I could actually carry a tune so I started singing in my church choir in Grammar school and I have been singing ever since.

JLL: Did you take voice lessons – how long did you study?

Angelica: I did take voice lessons. I started as young as 9 with my first vocal coach and as I got older I worked with several different teachers and trainers who taught me various types of techniques. I even studied opera and was classically trained throughout all four years of high school. Ive sang in many languages such as French, Spanish, Italian, German, Latin and Yiddish.... so I have been studying music/ training my voice for the last 15 years.

My new single "EXHALE" will even be recorded and Remixed in a couple of other languages!

JLL: What’s your favourite Genre?

Angelica: My favorite genre to sing is Ballads. I love those emotional, powerful songs that allow you to belt your heart out.

My favorite genre to listen to is Dance/ EDM..

JLL: Do you have any interests other than Music?

Angelica: Besides music, my other interests/ hobbies include write poetry, long boarding, traveling, snowboarding, scuba diving, collecting sneakers and working with animals. I love volunteering and being involved in animal rescue.

JLL: Who’s your idol? Who would you like to do a duet with?

Angelica: My idol would have to be Colbie Caillat. I have been a huge fan of hers since day 1 and she is such an amazing songwriter. Her voice is so soothing and inspiring and I would love to do a duet with her because I feel our voices would mesh really well together.

JLL: What would be your favorite vacation spot?

Angelica: My favorite vacation spot would have to be Turks and Caicos. I've been going there since i'm about 6 and I have spent so many summers / holidays creating amazing memories. I did my first open water SCUBA dive in Turks when I was about 11. There is no place on Earth like it!

JLL: Where has been your favourite place to perform?

Angelica: My favorite place to perform was the outdoor stage at Asbury Park for NJ Pride 2017. The crowd was so great and really got involved when I was doing my set. It was so great to sing in front of thousands and thousands of people and made me proud to be part of the gay community. I also got to meet and share the stage with Jordin Sparks which made the experience even better!

JLL: Where would you like to perform?

Angelica: I would LOVE to perform on one of the main stages at a huge festival such as EDC or Ulta. Dance music is my passion and to be able to get on stage and perform a track with one of my favorite DJs in front of over 300,000 people would be a dream come true.

JLL: Funniest thing that has happened to you whilst performing?

Angelica: Right before I was about to get on stage for a gig.. the host completely screwed up my name and instead of calling me Angelica Joni (Johnny) he announced me to the audience as Angelina Jolie!

JLL: Your best memory so far?

Angelica:Definitely NJ Pride in Asbury Park with Jordin Sparks and the other amazing artists on the lineup. It was the biggest Pride event (10,000+) I have done thus far, and it made me proud to part of the gay community.

JLL: Your goals?

Angelica: I am about to achieve one of my goals next month which is finally being able to release my second single "EXHALE" to the world! The official release date is July 11th 2017.

My short term goal for this release is to see it rise up the Billboard Dance Chart to #1, and then to have "EXHALE" crossover into other Billboard charts that are sales driven!!!

Beyond this I would like to finish writing and recording my first album!

JLL: Likes/Dislikes

Angelica: Likes: adventures, poetry, reading, arts and crafts, the beach, binge watching shows on Netflix, sharks, horseback riding, fishing, sun showers, making people laugh, outdoor sports, animals.

Dislikes : cold weather, when people pronounce my name wrong, it's Angelica Joni - pronounced- (JOHNNY) losing at anything (i'm very competitive!), math, bad hair days and liars.

JLL- Where/How did you meet up?

VR - We all went to the same High School and formed our first school band back in year seven. As with all things it didn't last to long but it planted the seed of "this is what we want to do for the rest of our lives". We all kind of did our own thing after that some of us went to Sydney some stayed in our home town in Albury.
JLL- Favorite memory of getting together?
VR - As a school band back in the day we all agree that our favorite memory was playing in our home town on the steps of the Civic Centre. Just four young guys belting out songs like Stairway To Heaven the whole song not the radio version. More recently it has been working with the guys from Vision Films Australia, shooting a music clip for our new single "WE RISE" for the movie RISE. We did nothing but laugh all day.
JLL- When was your first gig & Where?
VR - With our new band line up we are yet to play live as Von Rocker. We have played some under cover gigs to test the songs. We are looking at next year before we fully take it on the road. The Movie and recording has taken up a heap of time.
JLL- What is your favorite Genre?
VR - Our favorite genre is Rock, Rock n Roll. For years we tried to play or write for a market. Now we just play what we like and hope that other people out there like what we do.
JLL- What are your interests other than music?(Each Member)
VR - We do music and that is pretty much it for us. We are not sports orientated but we watch footy and V8 Super Cars etc. But the music is the passion we have, every day is some one in the band brings a new song to the table.
JLL- Who's your idol & who would you like to perform with/support?
VR - We grew up listening to Iron Maiden, Kiss, Van Halen, Motley Crue, ACDC and the list goes on. We would love to support a big band one of our Idols, maybe ACDC because we love Aussie Rock n Roll. But hey if any big act out there needs a little Aussie Rock n Roll to help support them on tour. You can contact us here.....don't be shy.
JLL- Where would be your favourite holiday spot?
VR - That's a hard Question. We have all travelled and I think now we think of if we travel it would be to tour. Any Country anywhere as long as we could play and fly the Aussie flag. I guess you don't need a holiday when you love what you do.
JLL- Where is your most favourite place to perform?
VR - Pubs, we love pubs that is where we earned our stripes. People in pubs always give you a reaction, good or bad it's always a reaction.
JLL- Funniest thing to happen to you whilst performing?
VR - I think we have had just about every funny incident that you could imagine...the worst was when the band went to the pub and the equipment went to a different pub with the same name.
JLL- Your best memory so far?
VR- Just being together as a unit a family all working together to do the best we can. The Movie has been great and the music clip that has been produced to support that movie has all just been great.
JLL- Your goals?
VR- I suppose we are like most bands of any Genre, we would like to get signed, get some big supports, get some recognition.
JLL- Likes/ Dislikes?
VR- We like Bourbon but we don't like scotch everything else is okay except for reality TV we really don't like reality TV!
JLL- Any advice for upcoming unsigned bands?
VR- As an upcoming band I am not sure if we can really give any advice to other bands. But people will say things like "stick to your guns" and "never give up on your dreams". Believe that if you like, but some times you need to give up, go away and lick your wounds and then come back stronger that before.

Kiirstin Marilyn

      KIIRSTIN MARILYN

JLL:  Where were you born and grew up?

Kiirstin: I was born in Long Branch, New Jersey, in the United States.  Spent my days going to the beach until we moved to Ocean Township, New Jersey - a small residential town with not much going on only a couple towns inland - when I was 7.  That house had a pool so my beach days were over. :) I lived in that house until I moved to New York City when I was 18 for school.

JLL How Old were you when you started singing?

Kiirstin: Well it depends on who you ask.  My mother once played me a tape of me singing when I was 2 years old...some gibberish that was clearly meant to be 3 blind mice or some children's song like that.  But if we're talking about when I discovered I actually had a decent voice, I remember being in gym class in 5th grade and I was singing some popular song with some friends, and they all commented on how I had a good voice.  I was like, "really?"  I'd never thought about it before then.

JLL: Did you take voice lessons – how long did you study?

Kiirstin: Well I auditioned for my first musical the year I discovered I could sing, and I played "Toto" in The Wiz at one of the local high schools.  I did a musical every year throughout my years in middle school, getting cast as ingenues singing soprano tracks, but I didn't start taking lessons until I was 14 with a local woman who didn't so much teach me how to sing as help me build a massive repertoire of musical theater songs.  But I took lessons with her all throughout high school.  I had various voice teachers throughout college as I was studying musical theater and acting.  Since graduating from college I've taken lessons with various teachers to focus more on a pop style than musical theater as I never was too fond of that style of singing.  I studied with my most recent teacher up until last October, but I decided he wasn't a good fit for me.  That was around the time that I started my new solo project so I really haven't had time to look for a new teacher let alone take lessons.  But hopefully one day I'll be able to start up again.

JLL: What’s your favourite Genre?
.

Kiirstin: I love progressive rock and post-hardcore rock.  Anything with an interesting melody that I can also go to a concert and get a little crazy to.  I'm a fan of many different genres for many different occasions.  Old Jazz of the Ella Fitszgerald age is great for wining and dining.  I love hip-hop and dubstep when I'm working out.  One of my favorite bands growing up was 311 which is something different all together.  I just love anything that's different from what people expect.

JLL: Do you have any interests other than Music?

Kiirstin: Well as I alluded to earlier I used to act so I love going to see live theater as well as movies.  When I can read a book, which isn't often, I like historical fiction.  I also really like making videos - mostly the editing process.  I have a video on my youtube page that is an anime cartoon that I spliced together to make a music video for my song "Waking You Up."  Editing is a huge part of the storytelling process and can really be the deciding factor between a good video and a bad video, or a good movie or a bad movie.  I've definitely thought about editing as a second (technically third) career if this music thing doesn't work out :)

JLL: Who’s your idol? who would you like to do duet with?

Kiirstin: Gonna have to go with Gwen Stefani.  She is hands down the best female performer of all time.  If you watch some of her live videos you will see that not only does she "rock out" and sweat her ass off on stage, but there is a theatricality to what she does.  She is really performing those songs.  She really feels them and makes you feel them.  I aspire to be like her when it comes to performance.  There are so many people I'd love to do a duet with, but if I have to pick one I'll go with Brandon Boyd of Incubus - I love his voice and Incubus is definitely one of my all time favorite bands still to this day.

JLL: What would be your favourite Holiday spot?

Kiirstin: Holiday as we know it here in America or Holiday as in Vacation?  Vacationing, I would love to go to Italy every year if I could.  Though I have yet to go to Croatia, which I will be going to in just a couple weeks, and people tell me its gorgeous there.  My family is originally from Croatia so I'll be spending time with cousins while I'm there so that might be my new favorite place.

For a quick vacation - maybe a day or two - from the city I love just going up to my Aunt's house in Connecticut.  Its surrounded by trees and its extremely relaxing.

JLL: Where has been your favourite place to perform?

Kiirstin: I love performing at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey.  Its a legendary venue that Bruce Springsteen made famous, and I used to play there all the time with my old band.  We even opened up for 3OH!3 and Cobra Starship at The Stone Pony.  To me that venue is like home.

JLL: Where would you like to perform?

Kiirstin: For some reason my dream venue has been Irving Plaza in New York City.  Its not a very big venue, but I think its just the right size for me.  Touring acts come through Irving all the time, and I've gone to see them and just longed to be on that stage.  At the same time I would love to just tour the world for the rest of my life.

JLL: Funniest thing that has happened to you whilst performing?

Kiirstin: Honestly I don't have too many funny stories from performing.  A lot of nerve wracking stories that still in hindsight aren't that funny.  Like the time in my old band when my brother's keyboard was sitting under an air conditioner without the case, and water was dripping on it for 2 hours while we were waiting to go on.  By the time it was time for us to play the bottom half of the keyboard had shorted out and he only had the top 2 octaves to play with.  Somehow we made due with a band that had no guitars and the keyboard as its main instrument, but it was a mess.  That was almost 2 years ago and I still can't laugh about it....ha

JLL: Your best memory so far?

Kiirstin: My best memory so far with my solo project is probably going up to Boston, Massachusetts to perform.  That city welcomed me with open arms like no other, and I got to hang out with my friend who is from South Boston (aka Southie) and her family.  I just love to travel and see how other people live and being able to perform while I'm there is just icing on the cake!  Really all of my best memories in music have to do with travel and touring.

JLL: Your goals?

Kiirstin: I figure you can guess by now my ultimate goal is to be touring the globe with my music full-time.  I want to see as many places as possible and meet as many different people as possible and hopefully share my mu wsic with them and have them share their love of music with me.  I'll be performing in London this coming Monday and I couldn't be more excited to show Londonhat I can do while also taking it all in. :)

JLL How Old were you when you started singing?
GB: I always sang i can't remember ever not singing basically!
JLL: Did you take voice lessons - how long did you study?
GB: I studied with David Lee Brewer for 3 years and I am still taking voice lessons with him now as I believe you can always improve.
 JLL: What's your favourite Genre?
GB: I like all genres but Soul has got to be my favorite. Or it's more the style of vocals I like. Soulful vocals sung on top of any genre does it for me.
JLL: Do you have any interests other than music?
GB: I love reading about mind stuff, playing tennis and cooking. But overall I am pretty obsessed with music so not a lot of room for other serious interests.
JLL: Who's your idol? Who would you like to do a duet with?
GB: I have a lot of idols or influences but Mariah Carey has been a massive influence since I can remember. I think Stevie Wonder would make for an amazing duet or Yolanda Adams on a gospel track.
JLL: What would be your favourite Holiday spot?
GB: Somewhere sunny and far out I guess. I'm not big on crowds so anywhere hidden away would be great.
JLL: Where has been your favourite place to perform?
GB: That would have to be the philharmonic in Berlin where I performed with a full orchestra. That was amazing!
JLL: Where would you like to perform?
GB: In all the big venues of the world but it's not so much about where I perform it's more about who I perform to. I'd rather perform to 10 people in my living room listening to me than to thousands in a stadium that aren't interested if you know what I mean!?
JLL: Funniest thing that has happened to you whilst performing?
GB: Nothing that funny has happened to me on stage yet but I always find it funny when guys in the audience try and hit on with whilst I'm still up on stage singing.
JLL: Your best memory so far?
GB: Again going back to my performance at the Philharmonic where I got to duet with David Lee Brewer!
JLL: Your goals?
GB: To be successful and happy with my music and hopefully inspire and help a few people too.
JLL: Likes/Dislikes
GB: Chocolate, I'm a massive addict/ Mushrooms! Yuk!

Preston Pierce

Preston Pierce

JLL: Where were you born and Where did you grow up?

Preston: Brisbane born and raised, have lived here all of my life. Have been lucky enough to travel overseas a few times, it's always a nice place to come home to.

JLL: How Old were you when you started singing?

Preston: I can remember starting to sing about 12 or so, found I could sing along pretty well to the songs on the radio. Soon discovered it was a good party trick, I started writing and playing
my own stuff in my teenage years, started listening to Jeff Buckley, David Bowie and Radiohead...they were a pretty big influence on me.

JLL: Did you take voice lessons – how long did you study?

Preston: Haven't had any lessons, am self taught, was just lucky enough to have the talent and have refined it over the years I guess. My mother loved singing and I grew up listening to her singing country
tunes. Have often thought I would like to study music at some stage, but am enjoying creating my own style and evolving on my own and with the band at the moment.

JLL: What’s your favourite Genre?

Preston: I think rock, am really enjoying writing and singing with The Splendid Johnsons, but I have a few favourites I think. I have varied tastes, can appreciate the talent that goes into any good song, if it is written with passion and has a message or captures some emotion. I listened to a lot of hip hop and R&B growing up and that merged into rock as I got older.
.
JLL: Do you have any interests other than Music?

Preston: Quite enjoy editing video to music, have made a few short movie soundtracks over the years. Like my mother I also enjoy writing poetry,
most of which end up as lyrics for songs. Most of my interests involve music on some level, I do like to paint and am still a fan of a well made computer game too.

JLL: Who’s your idol? Who would you like to do a duet with?

Preston: I would love to write and sing with Thom Yorke, I think he is a genius and can really capture the raw emotion... or create an atmosphere with his music,
you can't help but be captivated by it. He can also write and perform a lot of different styles, like he is constantly evolving to capture the sound of the modern world.

JLL: What would be your favourite Holiday spot?

Preston: That is a tough one... have been holidaying on the Sunshine coast for as long as I can remember... so that always has a place in my heart. I also have been lucky enough to find a second family in the States, and have loved my breaks over there in Montana and Salt Lake City, great people...great places. Like most of my holidays it's more the people you have them with then the actual location.

JLL: Where has been your favourite place to perform?

Preston: I honestly don't really have a favourite, have played heaps of gigs and parties over the years. Anywhere the drinks are flowing and the crowd is keen.

JLL: Where would you like to perform?

Preston: I like smaller venues, intimate shows... not a fan of concerts on an epic scale. Would like to take a show to the States, think it would be a lot of fun.

JLL: Funniest thing that has happened to you whilst performing?

Preston: Most of our gigs have been incident free, the ones I can remember anyway. We played a number of venues that all closed down a week after we performed there, we thought that was a little funny.

JLL: Your best memory so far?

Preston:My best memory so far, another tough one... so many good times with great people. I'm not really one for living in the past, so I am constantly trying to make new ones. I just really love those moments when you can feel a connection to the universe and the people around you... and for that one little rock moment, all is well in the world.

JLL: Your goals?

Preston: Ultimately I would like to live out the rest of my days writing and performing music, trying to connect with people and share my life soundtrack to all those who are interested. Music has been
my natural medicine and has got me through the highs and lows of life...if someone can appreciate or identify with one of my songs and it gives them support or a smile when they need it, that is enough for me, to know that I'm leaving something worthwhile behind.

JLL: Likes/Dislikes

Preston: Love anything creative or made with love. Dislike negative people and negative energy. Life is too short. Live and love.
